Are you active?

Be Active. Go for a walk or run. Step outside. Enjoy the great outdoors. Do what you can.

Being physically active every day is great for our bodies and minds.

Being more active can improve your mood and decrease feelings of stress, depression and anxiety.

Be Active.  Go for a walk or run.  Step outside.  Enjoy the great outdoors.  Do what you can.

No matter your age or fitness level, you can use exercise to help with your wellbeing and improve your energy and outlook. There are plenty of forms of exercise that you can do on our Island – from walking and cycling, to dance and swimming, martial arts or gyms. There’s also a host of activities you can do from your own home – from getting the most out of housework, to online tutorials or classes.

Exercise is a powerful depression fighter for several reasons, not just because it keeps our body healthy. Regular exercise is said to produce small changes in the brain including neural growth and reduced inflammation. Exercise also releases endorphins which can boost your spirits and make you feel good. It can also serve as a distraction, allowing you to find some quiet time in our busy world, some people even use exercise as their form of meditation.

It doesn’t have to be daunting - You don’t have to run a marathon or power-lift to feel the benefits of exercise, anything that gets your body moving can help.
