If you, or someone you know, needs some additional help here’s a list of organisations who are able to offer dedicated help or advice.

Please be aware that this list was collated during the lockdown in 2020 and therefore you may need to contact charities directly to ensure they are still operational.

A little Piece of Hope

A Little Piece of Hope supports families and children with mental and physical health, and supports (funding one to one therapy, supervised contact and items of equipment) bereaved families and families with children who travel to hospital - Offers support to families with food shopping during lockdown.

Alzheimer's Society

Their phone line is for anyone with a diagnosis of dementia, their family, their carer, or anyone who is concerned about their, or anyone else’s, memory 

Providing regular pre-arranged telephone contact calls for service users who have requested them, either locally or through our dementia connect service. This service uses volunteers, from both the island and the UK, to ensure that people affected by dementia can speak to a friendly voice on a regular basis. This service also monitors their welfare in case of any safeguarding concerns.

Carers Information and Support Courses (CrISP) for people caring for people with a diagnosis of any form of dementia. These courses are delivered virtually (via Zoom)

Operating their Shop mobility Scheme remotely with a drop off service, health and welfare advice - Office manned Mon-Fri 10am-12pm but available over the phone up to 4pm.

Assisting the Vaccination Hub on Chester Street, by offering the use of wheelchairs or mobility scooters to those attending the Hub for their vaccinations, and who are struggling with their mobility.  You do not need to be registered disabled to use this service and there is no charge.

Southern Befrienders

Southern Befrienders provides companionship to older people in the south of the island who feel alone, isolated or vulnerable. Our volunteer befrienders visit people in their own homes and are happy to stay in for a cuppa and a chat or go out and about with members. Our friendly, group social activities are held every week and include bingo, lunches at local pubs and restaurants, film afternoons, crafts, trips to places of interest, and a group just for gentlemen to enjoy a pint and a toastie at the local pub. Referral is easy, just a phone call or email, and people can refer themselves.
