   Age Concern Isle of Man

Age Concern IOM have lots of ways in which you can become involved and volunteer to help older people across the Island.

Have fun - feel good - make a difference!

Your time is very valuable - just a couple of hours makes all the difference, an occasional hour once in a while, or a few hours each week.

Whatever time you can spare we’d love you to join in, change lives for the better and help make our Island a great place to grow old.

We are looking for volunteers to help:

  • in our shops
  • with voice of experience
  • our lifelong learning
  • with information and signposting
  • with fundraising

   Beach Buddies IOM

Beach Buddies IOM aim to keep our beaches and other parts of the island beautiful and need the help of volunteers to do this.

Beach Buddies makes it very simple to get involved in beach cleaning. We hold events every week of the year, and special events for any groups, clubs, Scouts, schools, Guides, companies who want to “make a difference” to the beaches and protect wildlife.

The equipment is very simple – a litter picker, a bin bag, a pair of gloves – and a human being!

We provide all the equipment and always give a safety talk beforehand, especially for younger volunteers, and Beach Buddies removes all materials collected, and recycle as much as possible. Beach Buddies has full public liability insurance and also has numerous Risk Assessments, all available on request.

Families are particularly welcome, and we are keen to encourage as many groups and clubs as possible to take part for an hour, or longer if you get hooked!

Our sessions are normally 90 minutes, at weekends. But there are no obligations, no need to register – just turn up and enjoy being involved. Even if you can only help for a few minutes, it is very much appreciated. Beach cleaning is for all ages and abilities, and we anyone and everyone.

We also warmly welcome Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates to enjoy Beach Buddies as part of their volunteering commitment.
