Island GPS will gather this week to share experiences in responding to the Covid-19 health emergency, and to hear from colleagues involved in reorganising and running services at Noble’s Hospital.

The response of healthcare professionals to the pandemic is the theme for the latest quarterly GP education session on the afternoon of Wednesday 29 July. The session will also provide a forum for doctors to look ahead to any potential winter pressures and discus how they plan to respond.

Routine GP appointments will not be available from 1 - 6pm this Wednesday, and anyone who needs to see a doctor urgently should ring their surgery for an appointment with the on-call GP.

Practices will remain open during the afternoon for patients to collect test results, make future appointments and order repeat prescriptions as normal.

The education sessions were established in 2012 to give GPs the opportunity to come together to discuss developments in medical care and best practice, and to examine ways to enhance care for patients in the Isle of Man, at a focused session away from their surgeries.
