This news release is issued to raise awareness of a delay to the introduction of the VAT domestic reverse charge for construction services due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the construction sector.

The domestic reverse charge has been delayed for a period of 5 months and will now come into effect on 1 March 2021.

The Value Added (Section 55A)(Specified Services and Excepted Supplies) Order 2020 [SD No 2020/0128] which was laid before Tynwald on 21 April 2020 will be amended in due course to reflect the changes required.

Further details of the changes can be found in Revenue and Customs Brief 7/2020 and the guidance Domestic reverse VAT charge for building and construction services or by contacting the Advice Centre.
