Pathway 1: vaccination exemption and natural immunity exemption

The Island’s travel/border restrictions have changed as of 00:01 on Thursday 16 September 2021.

The Isle of Man is currently allowing test and isolation-free travel for Isle of Man residents and non-residents who:

Are either:

  • 18 or over and have had the full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (two doses of either Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford/AstraZeneca, or Moderna or one dose of Johnson and Johnson)*
  • aged 16 or 17 and have had at least one dose of the PfizerBioNTEch COVID-19 vaccine

And

  • On arrival, at least two weeks has passed since the full course was administered
  • Travellers have not visited any country on the red travel list in the 10 days prior to their arrival**

If you are an Isle of Man resident and have only travelled within the Common Travel Area (UK, IOM, Ireland and Channel Islands), you will be eligible for the Resident Pathway (no application, isolation or testing).

*Individuals who have received the full course of a COVID-19 vaccine in the following trials will also be accepted: Com-COV, Com-COV2, Valneva and Novavax.

**From 04:00am on Sunday 8 August 2021 the Isle of Man is aligned with England and will accept a vaccine exemption if traveling from, or through, France.

If you meet the above criteria you may apply to travel to the Isle of Man without testing or isolation.

Children aged 11 and under are not required to undergo testing or isolation. Children aged 12-17 (and those 16 – 17 year olds who have not been vaccinated) will be required to follow pathway 2 or pathway 3 depending on if they have travelled to, or through the Common Travel Area, a green list country or an amber list country.

Children aged 16 or 17 who have received at least one dose of vaccination may qualify for pathway 1.

More information on travel requirements for minors is available on our dedicated page.

Children aged 15 or under are not required to complete a Manx Entry Permit or isolation exemption application. A landing card needs to be completed for them using the Manx Entry Permit issued to the adult they are travelling with. Further information can be found in the frequently asked questions page.

*IF THIS PATHWAY APPLIES TO YOU, PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE ARRIVAL*

Application

You will need to complete the online application form and submit proof of your vaccine status before you complete your landing card and both need to be completed BEFORE you arrive on the Island. We will accept the following as proof of vaccine status* (you will need to scan and attach to your application):

  • NHS England secure paper letter
  • NHS Scotland secure paper letter
  • NHS Wales secure paper letter
  • Bailiwick of Guernsey secure paper letter
  • State of Jersey secure paper letter
  • NHS app – PDF or screenshot
  • Patient Access App – Screenshot
  • The NHS card issued when you receive your vaccinations, from any jurisdiction in the Common Travel Area
  • EU Digital COVID certificate (EU DCC) for travellers from Europe
  • CDC card for travellers from the USA

If you have another document that you can supply that is not listed above and are unsure if it will be accepted, please complete your application and the travel notification team will review.

If you meet the criteria, an exemption certificate will be issued allowing you to travel to the Isle of Man without the need to isolate or have a test for COVID-19 when you arrive.

Your confirmation email will include a vaccination exemption reference number which you will use to complete your Landing Form.

Also bring a form of photographic identification with you for all adults who are travelling, such as a driver’s licence or a passport

You will only need to apply for vaccination exemption to travel to the Isle of Man once.  You can use the same vaccination exemption reference number for any subsequent visits to the Isle of Man.

Landing form

Once your exemption request has been approved and you have your unique reference number, you will be able to complete a Landing Form. You can complete this Landing Form within the 48 hours before your arrival.

Completion of this form any sooner would invalidate your application which may delay your onward journey on arrival.

Once you have completed your Landing Form you will receive an email containing a QR code, which you will need to present to Port Security Officers on arrival, along with photographic ID. This QR code can either be shown on a mobile device or printed before travel. It is recommended that you carry a printed copy of your QR form when you travel.

Manx residents do not need approval to leave the Island, however they still need to complete either a vaccination exemption. If you are a resident but are not fully vaccinated and have been outside the CTA, your landing form will be used to issue you with a direction notice appropriate to your situation. Everyone travelling to the Isle of Man must complete a landing form.

You can also download and print a paper copy of the Landing Form for manual completion. This should be passed to the Port Security Officers on arrival.

Restrictions on arrival

There are no restrictions on arrival for individuals who are arriving on this pathway, however there may be some visitor restrictions at health and care settings – please visit: Hospital visiting policy.

It is strongly advised that face coverings are worn in crowded or indoor spaces with limited ventilation, such as when using public transport. Some businesses may require you to wear a mask as a condition of entry.
